About the SASBMB

SASBMB hosts a biennial national congress featuring lectures, seminars and poster presentations from students, junior researchers and established scientists.

Welcome to the SASBMB 2024 Congress which will take place at the Ranch hotel, Polokwane, South Africa from 7 – 10 July 2024. The University of Venda is the host of the 2024 Congress.

The SASBMB Congress presents researchers from South Africa, and our international visitors with the opportunity to share latest advances in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Furthermore, the congress affords researchers opportunities to establish new collaborative linkages and consolidate existing ones.

In 2024, we anticipate hosting at least 350 delegates over 4 days. We have invited leading experts in the various areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to come and share their knowledge. Apart from leading and established researchers gracing the event, the SASBMB Congress values the participation of upcoming researchers particularly postgraduate students.

The host institution, the University of Venda, and the venue of the congress, the Ranch hotel, are located within vicinity of the Kruger National Park, and the Vhembe Biosphere Reserve which includes Mapungubwe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
